Tired of AI Hype?
So Are We.
Bankhosa was built out of direct frustration with the South African ICT market — expensive AI tools that look impressive in demos and collapse silently in production. Eight reasons we do it differently. From network intelligence to security and banking, each backed by architectural logic, not marketing language.

Inlay
NOT AN OVERLAY
Inlay, Not Overlay
Every competitor adds AI on top. We embed it inside.
An Overlay sits outside the network fabric and reads events that have already happened. By the time it processes a log and routes it to an engineer, the downtime has already occurred. An Inlay operates inside the control plane. It sees state before it sees events. It acts before failure is visible.
GROUND TRUTH
Traditional AIOps tools are overlays by design. Built for the dashboard era — not for autonomous operations.
30yr
TIER-5 EXPERTISE ENCODED
Tier-5 Logic, Not Generic ML
30 years of field experience, codified into executable protocols.
A generic ML model is trained on averaged data from averaged infrastructure. It produces averaged results. South African networks are not average. Bankhosa encodes the institutional knowledge of Tier-5 engineers who have solved these specific problems in the field, not in a lab.
GROUND TRUTH
Generic ML models cannot know what a BGP session flap in a Johannesburg IX looks like at 2am in load season. Our logic does.

CONSULTING BILL FOR DATA UNIFICATION
No Consultants. The Refinery SLM.
Palantir charges millions for ontology engineers. We train an SLM instead.
Palantir Foundry and Databricks both require expensive forward-deployed engineering teams to build your data ontology and medallion pipeline before a single insight is produced — typically 6 to 18 months at consultant rates. Bankhosa's Refinery SLM replaces that entire engagement: it ingests your scattered silo data and builds a structured, unified, continuously refreshed data layer automatically. Zero consulting bill. Zero ramp time. This is the cost argument no AIOps vendor wants to have.
GROUND TRUTH
The Refinery SLM works identically on telecoms silo data and banking legacy core data — same architecture, different domain training.

RECURRING FEES ON YOUR IP
You Own Everything
No vendor lock-in. No subscription. No exit tax. Ever.
The SaaS industry locks your operational logic, data, and institutional knowledge inside their platform. Stop paying, lose everything. Bankhosa operates differently — everything we build becomes your permanent property on delivery. No subscription that scales with your growth. No licensing fees on your own intelligence.
GROUND TRUTH
Most SaaS contracts include a data portability clause so narrow it is effectively worthless. Ours does not exist because you own everything from day one.
SA
BUILT FOR LOCAL INFRASTRUCTURE
South African Infrastructure Expertise
We understand the SA ICT landscape specifically — not generically.
Global AIOps vendors design for a hypothetical average customer. South Africa is not average. Our load-shedding-resilient architectures, specific IX peering relationships, ICASA regulatory constraints, subsea cable dependencies, and regional fibre economics create operational realities no generic platform accounts for.
GROUND TRUTH
A system designed for London or Singapore will fail in Johannesburg in ways that are entirely predictable — and preventable, if you built it for Johannesburg.

FASTER THAN TRADITIONAL DEV
AI-Accelerated, Human-Led
AI eliminates the time disadvantage. Engineers make the decisions.
AI has permanently changed the economics of engineering — what once required large teams and many months can now be delivered faster with a fraction of the headcount. But speed without judgement is dangerous. Every engagement is led by senior engineers who make architectural decisions and stand behind the work personally.
GROUND TRUTH
The organisations that win the next decade gave their best engineers AI as a force multiplier — not a replacement.

MARGINAL COST ABOVE NETWORK DEPLOYMENT
Security as a Native Output
The SLM detecting faults is the SLM detecting threats.
The Verifier SLM deployed at the network edge reads every packet's metadata continuously for fault prediction. The anomaly-detection primitives that identify a failing BGP session are structurally identical to those that identify lateral movement, DDoS amplification, and intrusion patterns. Security monitoring is not a separate product — it is the same model, trained on different labels. Near-zero marginal cost. Real managed detection and response capability. AI-augmented detection, with human escalation reserved for novel threat patterns that require analyst judgment.
GROUND TRUTH
Separate SOC tooling that does not share context with your network fault detection is not security — it is security theatre with a consulting bill attached.
78%
OF BANK IT BUDGETS: LEGACY MAINTENANCE
Banking: Sidecar, Not Migration
The Refinery SLM modernises banking cores without rip-and-replace.
South African banks — like most financial institutions globally — spend the majority of their IT budgets maintaining legacy core systems rather than building for the future. Rip-and-replace migration is expensive, high-risk, and politically toxic. Bankhosa enters as a sidecar intelligence layer: the Refinery SLM sits alongside existing cores, unifies their fragmented data into a structured layer, and enables AI-driven credit, fraud, and operational decisions without touching the underlying architecture. Telecoms is the beachhead. Banking is the expansion thesis.
GROUND TRUTH
By 2028, an estimated 70–80% of global banks will pursue sidecar modernisation strategies. The Refinery SLM is exactly this architecture — built without the consulting army that traditional vendors require.
Bheki Ntando Ngwenya
FOUNDER & MANAGING DIRECTOR
Built by a practitioner.
Not a vendor.
Bankhosa was founded by Bheki Ntando Ngwenya in Sandton, Gauteng — with a singular belief that AI has permanently changed the economics of custom software and network intelligence. Not as a theoretical position, but as a lived operational reality.
The name Bankhosa — from bantfu (people) and khosi (king) in Siswati — reflects a non-negotiable founding principle: technology must serve the people who use it, not the companies that sell it.
Every engagement is personal. Every deployment is built for ownership. Every promise made to a client is backed by Bheki directly — not a sales team, not a support ticket system.
